Well, with game one in the books I have to express my dissappointment in Civ 5. It honestly reminds me a great deal of the recent Sid game Rails which was the waterdowned (some would say dumbed down) version of the masterpiece that was Railroad Tycoon. Is CIv 5 a fun game. Certainly I have enjoyed it, but the changes they have made have really watered down the product. Where past editiions of the game would have a home on my hard drive literally until the next one came out. I see myself getting bored with this one fairly quickly unless expansions are in the future. There simply isnt enough to do and I feel like the game holds my hand too much. I will continue to give it a go, but after 48 hours Im feeling a lot like the guy who expected a kiss a the door from his date and got a handshake.

There is always the hope that at the next date (=next expansion)
she looks him deep into the eyes and then kisses him passionatelyTamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"

It's funny because yesterday I was telling someone how much I love this game, and I said, "It's not like Railroads was to RRT3, that totally sucked." I won't debate whether the game is watered down or not (I think it's actually more complex) because so many things depend on individual approaches and styles. What's up, hot dog?
