In further recent Linux news, somebody came up with a way to run DirectX 11 natively in Linux.
Combine that with the extant effort to run "wine" (the windows emulator) on windows (!!) for elder games that are non-supported, and what you're looking at is a way to run DirectX 11 on XP. In the future, anyway.
Too bad that with Linux there's always a substantial tinker-effort involved in getting stuff to actually run as advertised, it acts as a barrier to most people to even try it.
What this basically means is that you get to run Civ 5 even on older computers using the Linux platform. -
