BBC News has placed a video interview with Dennis Shirk (Civ 5 Producer at Firaxis) that shows a lot of gameplay footage; warfire footage that is!
Catapults throwing rocks, tanks versus riflemen, cannons collapsing to the ground. Artillery bombarding invading tanks. Destroyers in a huge naval battle. Multiple frigates sinking another frigate and most important of course: A HUGE nuclear blast!
Unfortunately the video quality is not that good. (It's a cam recording what's happening on screen). Nonetheless it's a video worthy to look at, giving a good impression of what warfare is about in Civ V!

Interesting, I prefer the online distribution, but NOT STEAM. Impulse is the best system, the next one is Gamers Gate. STEAM is a bit intrusive, it requires to be constantly run to run any steam game, which is STUPID in my book.
That said, I think I still prefer STEAM to the boxed version that requires to insert CD.The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so
certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

That's what happens when the ONLY purpose to having a PC is to civ.

Yeah that worked fine for me until my daughter starting getting older. Then I had to rummage through all her party mixes to find the stupid disc.
D2D was a godsend and I would order everything through them. I've downloaded civ IV to many machines without one peep out of them. No muss, no fuss and the updates are already included in the download. Steam is not quite as good in my opinion, but it's nice that the program will automatically keep itself up to date. I see this as an opportunity to get updates more frequently with less hassle.
Hell I'll bet that the first update will come with your purchase instead of having to wait a few months. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Patience we need... buy it we all will. It sure seems to be a very nice game with a lot to offer. But for me there is a big question that come up to me. After my poll about your first CIV game, wich means that most of us started with civ1 and civ2... is the game intresting enough to buy for none civ players? I love to play civ in MP! Hope that some friends of mine now starts to play civ5 if it came out!

If you have never played Civ game, then go ahead and buy Civ III or IV - they are cheap, and you will get good understanding of what Civ is about. I do not think that Civ V that different in terms of mechanics - it is different enough for Civ players to be entertained by novelty, but for non-civ player, it is about the same as older games in terms of game mechanics. The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so
certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.
