Because
a) my sense of self-worth isn't that brittle
b) taking personal offense is never a good idea on the internet or in email, especially when there's another possible interpretation
c) it keeps the discussion focused in a more positive manner
d) Krill and I already know our opinion of each other; no need to air it for all and sundry
e) personal attacks belittle the sayer, not the recipient; I saw no need to accuse Krill of such, again, when there is another possible interpretation. So I assumed the best rather than accusing him of the worst. If he feels the need, he would have the option to clarify and do so.

Quite a notion. More complimentary because it recognizes how he could be perceived as less abrasive and exhibiting more tact in social interactions in public.
