Hello from Mac civgroup member #7, I'll add the "double-o" once it's deserved. I've been having trouble finding much ado about Macs at all since I got this one a month or so ago, glad to find this little community amidst PCdom. So we can't go to the Zone, Gameranger is.. barely tolerable (to any who don't think it's "hella wicked") so is this where all the action is, if any? I'm looking at starting up a game tomorrow, have a couple folks lined up, but I was wondering if everything runs OK between Macs and PCs in a multiplayer game? We're planning on using a scenerio I believe.. do any of ye more experienced Mac CIVers know of any quirks or conundrums I should know of? Any help will be happily appreciated. Oh yeah, is there any good IRC software for Macs?!?! Ta!

Hey, welcome to the community.
Yeah, we're small and I'm not sure you'll get a response from a Mac gamer before you fire up your MP session, but we're close-knit, so to speak. I've only played SP due to time and connectivity issues.
Perhaps if you asked in the PC MP Civ II community they'd be able to get back to you quicker. I'm sure there have to be some cross PC/Mac players there (or, at the very least, previous experience with such set-ups).

Thanks for the heads-up! How 'bout I just don't mention I'm on a superior operating system Seems to be enough scenarios and mods and such to keep one busy in SP, just DLd the PC scenario converter, too.. so many worlds, so little understanding from the girlfriend...\/\/

I've played MP as the only Mac in an otherwise PC world without problems -- have never hosted, however.. You need the MGE version with the current (1.1, I believe) patch. (Also, I should warn you: If anyone experiences significant lag -- or really, any problem -- the Mac will be blamed. )
Don't know about MP scenarios, though I seem to remember that they could be problematic. .Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

Not the ONLY mac
I've played several MP games with PC gamers and I allways host.
Scenarios work fine (infact I have played all my multiplayer games with scenarios as I am part of the civ 2 creation comunity rather than the MP comunity and my games have been with people from that forum).
If the game wont start, make sure the entire filepath matches the one the PC players have (this is not allways necesary but sometimes it is, I have no idea why it differs from case to case).
They'll have to adjust thiers becouse mac scenarios doesn't work unless the filepath is: civilization II files->scenarios->[scenario folder] (again sometimes it works fine if the PC player has his scenario folder directly in the civ 2 folder, sometimes it doesn't, one of these two ways will work though). No Fighting here, this is the war room!

Well it seems to work fine, besides getting disconnected from my server, of course, but hey, 56K - what can ya do. We're playing the Samurai scenario with me hosting - only glitch was when I had saved a game after being disconnected, but in the wrong folder, so when I loaded it up, instead of having samurai and warrior monks, we had paratroopers and balloons.. that was strange. Should I just use the 'auto...' file for reloading the games? Hey we're up to 11 now, woohoo!\/\/
