  • Dragon Warrior for NES

Does anyone remember Dragon Warrior for Nintendo? I just started playing it again. I can't think of a game with less plot or more mindnumbing strategy, yet its still one of my favorite games

So, is it the weekend already?

I bought the magic armor and saved the princess today, slaying the green dragon, I only had to use 4 herbs before I killed him I also learned the spell Return.

I have no recollection of this game...it looks like zelda but without the action. I enjoyed Zelda on the NES. I must've been about 8 when I first played that.

like i said, it has almost no plot beyond saving the princess and killing the dragonlord, all you do is level, and then make a quick strike. but its one of my favorite games though

Damn it man! Its a classic !

I still have the little song in my head, and also the one when one fights the dragon lord.

Why don't you set yourself the challenge of killing a dozen metal slimes (good luck), or getting 10000 gold for endless fights with Goldmen?

I do agree that it is brutally repetetive: fight, walk, figth, walk, go to inn or use herb, walk, fight...and so forth, but I agree, it is fun.

Have you ever played DW 2,3, or 4?

2 is a sequel, and i think the first comsole RPG to introduce a party of characters. 3 is a prequel (though thgis is supposed to ba surprise) and 4 has nothing to do with Edrick, but is one of the best RPG's I have ever played, and still for the NES: heck, better even that Link for SNES.

i've tried them, but they were never as adicting, i played one of them (i think 2), for a couple hours, and got really annoyed at the game. The implemenation of night was really dumb, you could walk from one town to the next without having to go through a period of night, IIRC, you HAD to stay at an inn for daytime to come again. And the monsters were dumb, i don't remember the particulars, but the 10 different kinds of worms and bats never invoked the amount of fear running running into a Wolflord or Warlock ever did. The party thing was pretty cool though

                  ahhhhhhh....

I beat that game at least twice, probably more like 3 or 4 times, form start to finish.... lot of time. I must still have it somewhere.

GREAT game for it's time... fond memories.
