  • SMAX succession game

    For those of you here when Illiria started that succession game type thing, which soon failed miserably, or for those of you who weren't, i thought the idea was deserving of further persuance.

    Consequently, i'm looking for 4 or so players of a new succession game, all preferences open to debate.

    Any takers? Don't all jump at once, now.

    Yeah, I know I failed miserably,. but times are better now and I hope to have enought time -> I would love to start another game...

    Settings? Something difficult, maybe we can learn more this way?

      we could also play as one of the more obscure factions, like the cult of planet.

        go ahead and setup a game. I believe we should exchange control every 25 or so turns, we have a better chance of learning from our individual style this way?!

          Turn nine: due to stupidity, lost alien artifact
          Turn eleven: attacked by the caretakers
          Turn twelve: captured spore launcher, lost unity rover
          Turn thirteen: destroyed caretaker unity rover
          Turn fourteen: captured mindworm
          Turn sixteen: located decision: manifold, thought: seed, commenced bombardment of thought: seed
          Turn seventeen: eliminated Caretaker scout patrol
          Turn nineteen: destroyed Caretaker 3res Sentinel, colony pod in thought: seed,
          Turn twenty-one: destroyed Caretaker colony pod
          Turn twenty-two: destroyed Caretaker colony pod, former
          Turn twenty-three: lost scout patrol, captured mindworm
          Turn twenty-four: lost mindworm, destroyed Ct 3res sentinel, captured thought: seed
          Turn twenty-five: observed Ct lose mindworm against fungal tower, neutralized caretaker former, commenced preparations for assault against Decision: manifold

          Notes: base building has been somewhat lacking. The entire area around my first two bases is fungus, and the Caretakers were poised to strike against both bases. It appears to be the beginning of a momentum style game.

            received game at turn 33

            - started attacks against Destination: Manifold, mostly destroying the mine and farm, also bombarding with 2 spore launchers, slowly reducing defenses.
            - Aliens also have robots, kille done in turn 2137
            - founded 2 cities with the colony pods
            - cities are building somehwat more "infrastructure" i.e. formers and command centers
            - 2143: destroyed the second robot
            - 2144: discovered Lasers
            - 2149: found industrial base in a pod
            - 2150: destroyed a 4-3-1 infantry
            - 2151: lost a spore launcher
            - 2152: destroyed a 4-3-1 infantry
            - 2153: a big Worm fell through a dimensional gate...looks like it is time to explore some more?!.
            Worms are quite rare these days, havent found one in 12 turns!
            - 2154: switched to a planned economy for faster growth, money income: worms.
            -2161: almost finished with the road system, 2 colony pods heading southward.

                2195: conquered and isle of the deep + some worms
                2198: Cyborgs complete Virtual World
                2199: Made contact with Cyborgs. They are pissing me off...
                2200: Finished Merchant Exchange
                2205: new tech. btw: network nodes in 80% of the cities, ethical calc from artefact
                2209: bought some techs from Cyborgs (with all those worms around cash is no problem), second wave of settlements.
                2214: discovered Intellectual Integrity, 14 cities
                2217: built Empath Guild, Aki elected Governor (by 8 votes). Ugh.
                2224: war with caretakers and usurpers, both located. Found new sargasso

                  Turn 2226: discovered adaptive econ, exchanged bio for cyberethics with university, commenced general annoyance of usurpers
                  Turn 2227: destroyed usurper base
                  Turn 2229: discovered Ind Aut
                  Turn 2232: Usurpers are building needlejets
                  Turn 2234: captured two mainland Usurper bases
                  Turn 2235: lost one of said bases, probed it back, captured missile units
                  Turn 2237: exchanged with Aki for doc: air, field modulation, eco engineering, signed treaty with Aki
                  Turn 2239: captured Usurper sea base
                  Turn 2241: **** alliances. War with university and Sparta, pact with Roze, elected planetary governor
                  Turn 2242: Usurpers commence large scale counterattack against my holdings on their continent
                  Turn 2244: discovered superconductor
                  Turn 2245: captured another Usurper sea base, am on defensive against massive Usurper probe attacks on their continent
                  Turn 2247: presentient algorithms

                      Turn 2275: Fusion, treaty with University
                      Turn 2279: decided to eliminate Sparta before dealing with Caretakers/ Usurpers
                      Turn 2283: isolated Spartan outpost captured, Spartans surrender
                      Turn 2284: lost sea base off of Usurper heartland
                      Turn 2287: planetary econ
                      Turn 2290: generally annoying Alien sea bases, have fond hopes of destroying the Usurper forces on their second continent

                      General notes: if the economy is devoted to war, the Caretakers can be wiped out, or the Usurpers restricted to their home continent. With the ability to produce marines, this shouldn't be too hard. And we have a decent-sized airforce...

                          Cloudbase Academy: one of my favorite projects: Absolutely necessary for Hive builder strategy: you need tons of energy sattelites and you can spell CASH as if you invented it.

                            2333 -> just had a nice missile shower on the attack launch point, lost a transport, a garrison and 2 fighter planes. revenge.
                            Hminee has a pact with the University. How long can we tolerate this?
                            2334 -> Another sweep of missiles destroyed the rest of the attack force. Count so far: 2 cities conquered. 2 remaining. Shouldnt be a problem for us, will take longer now the copters are gone.
                            One of the cities was probed. 3 remaining
                            2335 - next city probed. 4 remaining. Also another missile rush, no army present in the area. Will revert to chemical weapons now.
                            It seems like the AI only attacks with missiles as a defense, i.e. when you attack them they strike back the same turn. So it is possible to gather units in a city?!
                            2345 - the attack strategy might have to look like hit and run, hide in the fungus.

                              Wow and sheesh comes to mind guys... I'll watch and learn... maybe jump in on the next succession?
                              (Most certainly not this one though...)
                              I'm not conceited, conceit is a fault and I have no faults...
