  • can't install CivIII

installer quits with a type 1 error every time, just after the license agreement.

running a 400 G4 TiBook with 384 ram, under OS 9.2.2. never had problems intstalling anything else. happens with with or without virtual memory enabled. ram disk is off.

    what gives?

thanks in advance for any suggestions...

It's that crappy Carbon Stuffit InstallerMaker causing trouble. Check the version of CarbonLib you have installed in your system folder. I've heard conflicting reports, but some people say you need to downgrade to 1.0.4 to get it to work. This was with a slightly older version of InstallerMaker, so you may in fact need to use a more recent version of CarbonLib like 1.4. I don't know about CarbonLib 1.5 since that came out after we went final.

All that BS aside, you're gonna want CarbonLib 1.4 or 1.5 to play Civ3 effectively.

it turned out to be an extension conflict - I was able to install with base extensions, and now can play the actual game with my regular full extension set. whether it was related to cabonlib (I have 1.5) I don't know...I'm not inclined to track down which extension was the culprit since I can play the game now

in any case thanks for the response

      cheers
