The last I heard was that the game would be released the week of January 7, but I called around yesterday, and none of the stores in my area even knew that it was coming. Does anyone know any more about when we will be able to get our hands on the game?

>MacSoft, an Infogrames, Inc. (IFGM) label, announced today that one of the most eagerly anticipated Macintosh games has begun to ship to stores this week: Sid Meier's Civilization® III. The third and most advanced game in the series that has been called "the greatest computer game of all time," challenges players to build a civilization that will stand the test of time through trade, diplomacy, cultural excellence and military might.
"We are thrilled to be able to offer this tremendous title to Mac gamers," said Paul Rinde, Senior Vice President of Infogrames. "We anticipate that the excitement shown by the Mac community in the first Civilization games will prove true with Civilization III."<

i just checked on chips and bits to see what they're status for civ3 was and even thought they changed the release date (to 1-2, even) it's still on there as "preorder"
i only hope this is an oversight and they do have it in stock and have shipped mine. otherwise i'll be luck to get it on friday, at the earliest when i had been thinking that would be the latest.

None of the Mac stores in the Los Angeles area are expecting the game right away. Some don't know, others say the end of the month.
Does anyone have any sense as to whether I'm better off ordering from Chips & Bits, or assuming it'll be in stores at the same time?

Yea, I checked my order status and....nada. I emailed C&B customer service, and their reply was...when they get'em, they'll ship 'em. They did say the product was on its way.
Oh Sid, oh Sid where's my Civ! I need help. Today in faculty meetings, I'm day-dreaming about Civ3. I'm totally zoning the "whose on concerned status list" discussion. I fear therapy is my only option."What did you learn in school today, dear little boy of mine?

I wrote to Amazon yesterday to ask when they would have Civ3 for Mac available. This was their response:
-------
Greetings from Amazon.com.
Currently, our Software store does not offer a version of Civilization III
that is Macintosh compatible. I apologize for any inconvenience this may
cause you. We currently do not have an estimate as to when we will list
this title as available on our website.
I hope this information is helpful. Thanks for shopping at Amazon.com.

Not much help (other than demonstrating a speedy turn around on responses for info). What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?
