Multiplayer crashes?

I have tried to play Civ II (MGE 1.1.1) on GameRanger several times, but I always seem to crash within an hour or so. In particular I seem to get stuck on the city screen while another player is moving.

Does anybody else have the same problem? Is there a way around it?

I've had the problem too... GameRanger just seems to not work very well for the Empire building games... at least in my experiance.
Even Warcraft II gets rather buggy.
