  • ANNOUNCEMENT: Civ 3 for Mac is Gold

Civ 3 for Macintosh went gold this week. Brad and John did a fantastic job and managed to get it out in time to have it for sale at Macworld.

Note that MacSoft will be out of the office from tomorrow through Jan 2nd, although we will periodically check email.

Happy Holidays everyone. Hope your stocking has some Civ money in it!

I have extreme emotions about this both positive and negative.

        Pos: Omigod it's out!!!!
Neg: Jeez, they rushed it before Christmas. Just like the PC version. Not even time to incorporate a second patch from Firaxis.

Boy. Should I get it, or wait 'till all the screaming starts from the Mac gamers about the bugs

Where? I saw you said something about MacWorld, but they don't have it. MacSoft's page points you to GameSpot if try to click "buy", and they only have the PC version. Amazon only has the PC version. Chips&Bits at elast lists it, but their page says it's due in April/02 and you can pre-order it.

What's the deal? Where can we order it to expect it in January?

is anyone else getting sick of 'dr' k?

how can you say they rushed it for christmas? it won't be out untull january. how can the game be buggy if it has the patch in it?

i preordered it from chips and bits last night. i'd be surprised if i don't have it by the tenth.

but, the editor probobly won't be out untill february or later, according to what's been said. but, you've probobly not read anything on here before you started your own thread asking a question that had already been asked

One of us is not reading, and it's not me.

Anyway, thanks for telling me Chips and Bits says Jan 10. It isn't on their site.

The release date just changed from February/March to January. The retailers will take a few days to catch up. Try next week.

I have a dumb question that maybe can be answered by someone on this thread -- will mods, maps, etc. work on Civ3 for Mac the same on Civ3 for PC? Looks like some cool stuff out there and I'd hate to be left out. Thanks.

                      Great stuff, VERY fast port.

Hopefully we'll see some of Firaxis's later patches available on macsoft's/westlake's site as time goes on. Any new word on system reqs, or are they unchanged?

Just seeing if a sub500 MHz G3 would do the trick.

Gold? What do you mean, went gold? As in multi-player gold?

The MP is not available until spring on the PC, or so I heard.

It's a technical term, IIRC meaning the game has been sent to duplication and then shipping. Finished, more or less.

meaning that it is as finished as it was after the first PC patch...I know, i know, i should show more optimism. I'll wait until one you play it and then demand a technical review.
