  • Westlake Picks Up a Few More Awards

MacWorld Magazine recently announced its picks for the 2001 Macintosh Game Hall Of Fame, and once again some of Westlake's projects made the cut. For Best Adventure Game, the winner was Escape From Monkey Island, published by Aspyr Media. For Best Extreme-Sports Game, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (also published by Aspyr) fit the bill. And finally, for Best Strategy Game, Age of Empires II Gold Edition (published by Destineer/Bold) nabbed the award. All-in-all, Westlake games accounted for 3 of the 10 top honors handed out by MacWorld Magazine.

Out of curiosity, is there a link for that? Can't say I've played Monkey Island, but AOEII Gold really is something else. Pro Skater 2 as well. Seems like all of the more popular Aspyr-published titles were ported over at Westlake...The Sims, Deus Ex, etc (RTCW?). The WL/Aspyr/Macsoft combo really seems to keep mac gaming floating atm. Awards well deserved.

I saw that article because I have a subscription.

Hey! They added Civ II in the strategy section, but not SMAC.
