Two questions on MP

1/ I have the MGE edition on my computer but my CD is the original version: will that be a problem if I try to play online?

2/ Can I play with a player on PC even if he is on version 2.42? Or is that still a problem even with the patch?

1.not 100% sure but I don't think so.It might depend on the type of installation you did.I did a full and didn't need the cd at all to play.

2.No.2.42 is not multiplayer.However if a pc player has MGE you can.They must have their last patch and you need the last mac patch.
