    I have everyhting there cept
8.6...i'm not too keen on switching....all that updating..ugh..easier to buy a pc ducks head

I'm cutting it close on processor.I have 300....that'll be close.128 is all I have for RAM but thats not a huge problem.HD space is plentiful.

I have the stock video card that comes with a G3.AT Rage or something.Doesn't look like 3 will be a "heavy" graphics game anyway.

you better duck your head! what's wrong with upgrading? everyone runs on 8.6+ now

i'm pretty secure civ three will run on my imac-one of the originals, G3, 96 mb RAM version

they've said they want this game to run on less powerful computers to get ot to as many people as possible, so surely it'll run on G3's

ever see the game boxes that have a little picture of an imac on them saying that this perticular game will run on an imac? this could very well be one of those games

      game boxes......hmm......

any speculation on mac LE version? they made civ2 gold for us, how long after the windows version, anyone know?

that was like the 1st game i got when i bought my imac, before that it was all civ1! i even tried putting civ1 on my imac, didn't run right

300 should be ok...if Westlake fails us there, they'll take a big hit as far as my confidence in them goes...no excuse for it. They got The Sims to work on a 233/64 - at that rate, civ3 should be easy. Never know the exact specs of the game, though, so maybe I'm talking too much too fast.

        We'll see.

          quote:
          ok hold it..
          current pc requirements for civ3
          .: Pentium II 300mhz
          .: 32 megs of ram
          .: 400 megs hd
          .: 4X CD-Rom
          .: DirectX 8.0a vid. card
          .: 1024x768 Req.
          .: Windows

what does all this translate into?

It translates into many headaches and one ugly piece of tech on the computer desk/table/cart.

Now, while we wait for AoE2 Civ3 and Moo3 (the one that I'm hot for), does anyone want to play a game SMAX or AC? That would give us all a good reason to return to these forums.

I would PM around, Rue, just to make sure you ask everyone. Personally, my copy of SMAC is 'borrowed' by a friend at the moment...

Now all we need is a poll!

Not only do we have one poll. we have two. This goes beyond the extent of my imagination. Now let's see if anyone responds

yes,it is VERY good...so far.I can't crash it and I have been trying

IMO..it is big step up from ie 5 and a huge step up from 4.74.Pages are loading very fast and I have an old fashioned 56k.I even went to default forum setting from light style. No problems at all.A good site to test browsers is Civ3.com.Lots of images and a flash movie.NS 6.1 loads it at least twice as fast as ie 5.I won't even talk about 4.74.

Until I experience some problems,I am back to NETSCAPE..hooray!!

if you get it,do a custom install or it will install some stuff you probably don't want.

Well, I just signed up to the forums today and thought I'd say hi. I've finally gotten "Civ 3 fever" and will probably be on occasionally obsessing about when the Mac version will be out. It's nice to see a Mac specific forum on these boards, it warms my heart.

Anyway.....Smash, what OS are you using Netscape 6.1 on? I might have to give it a whirl if it's carbonized. IE for X doesn't have the best support for Java and Flash, but there really isn't an alternative right now. I hate supporting Microsoft......
