Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
almost forgot: SMAX plays like a charm the only thing that is missing is a way to switch the embedded keypad on/off like numlock or capslock. The way it is now is a bit confusing, you need 2 hands to do it

OSX is nice on the iBook, runs fast, as fast as my G4 (almost, I noticed differences in app loading speed etc., but that is expected.). Development work should works quite well with it. The AntiAliasing doesnt really hurt me, looks beutiful to me.
The case of the iBook is shiny plastics which likes to get scratches and fingerprints, but I figure this only shows you are using it, right?
The speakers are nice, but I think the bass is a bit underpowered, so if you use it to play mp3s, take speakers with you or hook it up to headphones or a stereo. (and, maybe even a TV for GForce!)
Heat: the book heats up quite a bit when there is much disk access (like with SMAX), mostly on the top side, left of the trackpad (which is nice, but I prefer an intellimouse anyday), and after a while the whole bottom side warms up as well. Havent heard a fan yet, so the book runs really silent!

I probably shouldn't have, but today I broke down and bought the iBook with the DVD. I also picked up an airport card, and tomorrow I'll probably go back and get a 256 MB DIMM and another airport card (to put in my G4). I'ld have to say I am very happy, but I haven't had time to do anything with it yet. I bought it from the school bookstore and it did not have OS X loaded, so I spent the evening doing that (also ran the OS X software updater about a jillion times to get it up to the current version).
Yeah, it looks sweet. That screen is excellent! And OS X looks fine on it too. I'll take it on the train tomorrow and see what it is like.
Such temptations. But we remain true to our resolve to purchase an ibook after MacWorld NYC in July. Hopefully by then the Apple Store will be open in the Mall of America. Until then, I will try to be content to live vicariously.
