1. egg timer feature for the PBeM games. May require a different model (i.e. server hosted) If you don't take your turn within mutually accepted time, you forfeit that turn.
-- rationale: Keep the game from stagnating.
2. ability to look at board when it's not your turn (if it was server-hosted you could log in and see what only what your faction can see).
-- rationale: Encourage more reflection and strategy, like chess.
3. ability to run under MacOS-X (anyone checked it with the PB yet?)
-- rationale: So it can still be played in the years to come.
4. fix "already moved" bug. Sometimes when you open a turn, you are told that all units have alreday moved when you are sure they haven't, as Illiria informed me, you can try to load the game a second time and those units can mysteriously move.
-- rationale: Making it work properly.
that's all for now.

I would like to see multiplayer via Gameranger work properly. I believe there is a bug in NetSprocket which wreaks havoc with SMAC/X's networking model. I guess the ball is in Apple's court. That's too bad. I'd love to play a real-time game.

This is definitely going to happen, although it may have to wait until OSX ships. The public beta still lacks fullscreen support outside of OpenGL, so at the moment it runs in a window. There are some minor unrelated bugs that need attention also.
NetSprocket is (not yet) working in OSX, so network games are out - not that OS9 is much better in that regard. ;-)
Anyway, once OSX final ships, I suspect we'll have some "Carbonized" SMAC/X builds ready for public testing.
