Hmmm...I take it that you would like it posted? I'm going to mess with the site tonight. Really. Promise.

Do you wanna play as barbarians?

I was just playing my new MOD (soon to be posted at the mac page, I'm just waiting for MacUser to put it there) and I thought a great (although dull) way to test it would be to set the no human player option and just watch. After a while I got bored and checked each civilization's map. I tested the barbarian map too. They have discovered quite much I thought and accidently hit the "end turn" button. To my great surprise when I got control again I controlled the barbarians! I tried to do the same thing in a normal game (set no human player and reveal map Barbarian) and it worked. You get new units from time to time and goody huts won't work for you. Although this isn't a very great way of playing civ 2 I thought it would be cool to post it here.
I don't think it would work for normal civ 2 though (I have MGE) since you don't get to hit the end turn button after setting the option no human player in the original.

I realized that while the "play as barbarians" trick didn't seems usefull at first it would be of great help in creating scenarios where barbarians/independents own cities from the beginning. Now you could create a barbarian settler and then build a barbarian city. Instead of building the cities, changing the population (so that it isn't destroyed in the attack) and place a barbarian unit becide it (hoping that it would conquer the city when you hit end turn).
