Sorry about the title. This is hard to explain in just a few words.
As some of you might be aware, I've been involved in a LONG PBEM game with Kengel and others for the past year. A reoccuring problem is that when a PC user sends me the saved turn (.net file), very frequently it is totally corrupted and must be resent. Initially I thought that having them sent as a .zip formated file would protect them as they spead through the email ether. But alas, they can still end up toast.
Sometimes all that is wrong is that the Type and Creator Codes are incorrect (both are changed to TEXT or sometimes BINA and hDmp, repectively). I have had moderate success using ResEdit to correct the codes so that the game can recognize them, but other times they are worthless and unredeemable. I've also tried running them through StuffIt Expander twice, but that has only worked once or twice.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
