Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
I am wondering about multiplayer games. Where do you find them? and what if someone has to leave during the game? is there some kind of protocol page or something i should look at?
thanks
You can find MP games at gameranger.com .A MAC only gaming site.
The Zone was working on MAC compatibilty last time I checked there(months and months ago).
Gameleague offers organized competitive play with rankings, tournaments, tribes blah blah.
Get icq.Its a free comunication tool. There is an icq# list of prospective players in the multiplaying forum.Add players #s and surf online for a game.
Ideally, players will decide how long they are going to play for that session or someone will hint. "its 4am and I gotta go to work now" was my all time fav.
At gameranger or the zone players just drop whenever they feel like it.Not good. These are good places to get your feet wet but not good places to find longterm serious games. At least in my experience.
Continuing and finishing games is a problem.Scheduling can be difficult.Sometimes games get lopsided and players don't want to continue. Some players have dozens of games going at the same time.Including one of these players in your game is a surefire recipe for not continuing.
Having said that I do beleive MP is the best "version" of civ.Just gets a little frustrating at times. But it also can be very exciting and tense.
I'm not the only person that looks in this forum.
Am I?
The only thing that matters to me in a MP game is getting a good ally.Nothing else is as important.......Xin Yu
I just responded to your thread in the MP forum, squidp. A tip - best not to post the same thread in different forums. The MP forum is the best place for anything related to MP matters, especially questions like yours. It also seems to be, for whatever reason, the most visited of the Civ forums, so it's your best chance of an answer.

Re. Smash - Yeah, what he said! My experience with GameRanger is that the people who go there are looking for short-term games like shoot-em-ups and not long term strategy games. I tried several times and never got a game to last longer than an hour. So, your best bet for a long term game is ICQ and posting in the MP Forum.
I keep threatening to host a open newbie game for anyone to drop in and out for as long as it takes to get to AC. This would allow people to get their feet wet and always find a game at a known time. Besides, I really need to work out this cable modem!
Re: Finbar - Yeah, double posting is rather forboden, but I think that we have all done once in a while. Especially when trying to reach two sepparate audiences like Mac and scenario creators. I double posted looking for help with Red Front and programing. I imagine that the other moderaters will tolerate the RARE, infrequent double post. Especially, a Mac-user looking for a MP game with other Mac users!
