    What was the max mapsize and number of civ's in Civ1?

    Edit: Oh, and how many turns was it?

      Amount of turns depends from the difficulty level in the original Civ.

        WE had the nintendo version and I don't think you could set the map size in Xs and Ys like you could in II. You selected map types that were quite limited.
        It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

                I'd have to start the game and count the squares to learn about the map size, but mandatory retirement comes after 650 turns (= 2100 AD) minus 20 turns for each difficulty level above Chieftain. In that respect, an epic game of Civ4 is closest to the original game's pacing.

                    Intrigued by the question for no particular reason, I was crazy enough to count the squares and am happy to report that the Civ1 map is 80 x 40 = 3200 squares large.

                    There is a Civ1 forum in the "Civilization General" section of this board, but asking about the map size over there might wake someone.
