Take-Two has made reference to plans combining developers PopTop and Firaxis, in a cost-saving measure, but there's been no official announcement.
Speaking at a tele-conference yesterday the company's EVP Cindy Buckwalter talked about ways of increasing efficiency. "One example was combining the two studios of PopTop and Firaxis. There's a lot of synergies between the studios that we can take advantage of," she said.
PopTop is best known for PC strategy games like Tropico, Railroad Tycoon 3 and Shattered Union, none of which are wholly at odds with Firaxis, best known for the Civilization series.
However, there has been no official word from Take-Two and no mention of a merger on PopTop's website. The company is based in St. Louis, while Firaxis is in Maryland.
