I've given it some more thought, and I'm beginning to doubt the validity of the rumour.

It doesn't make sense to me to offer a non-hard drive version of Xbox 2, in particular. It would seem a huge step back from the original HD, which gamers have come to love the HD on. Further, it would eliminate the ability to have backwards compatibility with the original Xbox. Even further still, developers make games for the "lowest common denominator", so the hard drive would be effectively wasted.

I'm also questioning the practicality of the technicality of the Xbox2-PC. It just seems a bit...far-fetched to me.
