It's pretty easy to break the cipher - just look for Summon Hero and Summon Champion in the Summoning section, Spell of Mastery in the Special Spells section, etc.
    Wow!

I never knew you could do that, wander through your entire unresearched spellbook. And the cipher is really not that hard to break, once you know the limited number of spells they could be representing. I notice Prayer and High Prayer are in the Enchantment section. It would take some work, though. I suspect the capital letters could be different, complicating the matter.

On the Other Hand, Crusade DOES seem to be hard to get with warlord and 8 life books. I tried restarting 5 times, then tried with 11 life to be sure it would be in there and I would recognize it, and then restarted 2 more times with warlord, 8 life, before I got it.

So It CAN be done, but the game seems to select against it, for some reason.

Try with 9 books - I got it from the first attempt ... Btw you can switch off the spell book ordering option and then your spells will be ordered by realm not by type. Look for Crusade at the end of life section.

Don't forget that you get a lot of spells from conquering ruins and nodes. Be aggressive about going after them and you stand a much better chance of getting Crusade (especially if you only have 1 color of books).

Yeah, but the idea that Nimrod started this thread was to play with champion units. For that you need Warlord AND Crusade. and choosing Warlord you can only get 8 books, without cheating.

Of course, you can still hope to pick up Warlord from a ruin or node, but it's hard to count on.

I thought an elemental wizard might be fun to play. 3 books in Nature, Chaos, and Sorcery plus Warlord. Finding lots of nice spells in nodes and ruins, including 1 Life book. Trading with wizards was easy until they decided not to like me. I might not be able to get Champion, but Ultra-Elite is better than nothing.

Father Beast - Warlord is 2 picks, and you start with 11 - so Warlord + 9 books is ok (no cheating here).

Nimrod - playing multi colored usually is a very easy game. You will probably get LOTS of spells from trade. If you have problem with the enemy wizards, cast Aura of Magesty several times ... You can get additional books and retorts from the various map locations, mainly from nodes, until you have 13 books and 6 retorts. Having 3 books in a realm gives you access to all of the spells form the realm (through research, trade, rewards or conquest).

My apologies. I was thinking Warlord was 3 picks for some reason....

Maybe you confused it with Myrran.
