  • Woo-hoo! My new eMac has arrived!

Sorry for the OT post, but I've got to share this w/ those who understand. My wife is like, "Oh, nice, set the old one up for the boys." Well, I guess I'm the same way when she starts talking about bunkbeds, overstuffed chairs, etc. Blah, blah, bla.

My old iMac G3/333 is out to pasture, replaced by a gleaming G4/1Ghz eMac. I'm ready for the new school year and some gaming. I've not installed Civ3 yet, but have HOI, which I've been beta testing here lately for VPltd. Runs really well. Forgive my exuberance.

How did you get to beta test for vpltd?

      :envious:

Oh well, atleast I'll be sure to buy the game when it gets out (from the way you speak it sounds like it won't be too long after all ), hopefully ensuring the porting of Victoria when it is released this christmas...

They requested some on the IMG EU2 thread to pound the EU2 patches for bugs, since some were getting through in previous builds. As a result, I was asked if I'd be interested in beta-testing more of their upcoming releases. Got lucky.

Well, not exactly over the hill, but it does have a great view of the valley!

I think I'll go mobile next time.

Unfortunately, having to go visit relatives this year has put me out of pocket for buying a new mac.

Heh... congrats on the new comp... I want one but won't get it for quite some time... at least my ol' G4 500 (single processor) still works well.

                    What's that, a Cube?

I really wanted one of those, but a student's salary said no.

yeah, the cube's were very nice looking comps, congrats on the eMac, dojoboy.

Hey Agathon, don't worry about your aging mac, my previous mac was a little newer than yours (a 450) and its working great!! I've heard that Panther is supposed to be faster than Jaguar(even on older macs).

I'm not that worried. It will last at least another year. According to reliable sources your information about Panther is spot on.

I'd like an ipod though and my mac was the last one to ship without a Firewire port.

                            ... but they aren't cheap.

My B&W G3/400 (definitely over the hill by the way ) will have to do for the near future. They stopped shipping the G4's with the FW800 and I'm not ready to buy a G5 until I've seen what one does in real world situations. Benchmarks can be impressive, but they rarely tell the whole story.
