  • Civ3: Conquests for Mac? (Will it include PtW civs as well?)

Now that it has been made clear that Civ3: Gold is not going to include PtW or Conquests, will Conquests be made available for the Mac.

Also what about us Mac user who wish to play with the PtW civs?

Worst comes to worse, someone would be able to back port the ptW civs (along with the graphics, sounds and animations) as a MOD like the Apolyton Extrapack specially for the Mac.

So it would make sense for Atari to make those civs available in the expansion pack for the Mac.

PtW would be the multiplayer version of the game, for all intents and purposes isn't essential for most Mac civ3 players anyway.

    I'll beg to differ!

While MP won't work, PBEM usually does work cross-platform. One of the entire reasons I'd like to have PtW for Mac.

One would think that PTW and C3C would be "icing on the cake" for MacSoft since the code has basically already been written. I don't understand why these aren't being ported sooner rather than later. Sales for the mac version of Civ3 were good, weren't they?

no idea about sales, but if they keep this up they may lose out to people switching to EU2

**sigh** Everyone knows where I stand on the PtW and, to a lesser degree, C3C.

Honestly, I haven't been following developments with EU2, so I can't offer any insights on the game, other than the fact that it has an interesting premise. Don't know if I like the play limitations to Europe, though. Or can you play China in EU2?

Yep, sure can. And, you can play minor provinces, including Native Americans, Native Africans, etc. If it exisated between 1419 - 1820, you can play it. There are also historical events which create nations. Also, once you've played x # of years, you can switch to another country = pretty cool.

One more thing, If an area of earth was unkown to Europe during the game's time span, then it is terra incognita throughout the game.

Interesting. Maybe I shall give it a shot once I upgrade to a newer, better, faster Bionic iMac.

Some interesting things seem to be coming out of the conquests expansion, however the most interesting thing seems to be the new scenarios that are being put together by Friaxis. If they port Conquests over to the Mac, i think that the scenarios will be worth the cost of the expansion. There is one good thing about us not having been given PtW, at least we do not have to pay for the costs of two expansion packs, only one(if they port it). Plus, we do not have to worry about the bugs that plauged the initial release of PtW.

I hope that this rumor comes true. We can never had too few strategy games(now only if we could get business sims...)

Hmm ... so there's talk that PtW and C3C might be brought over to the Mac as one expansion pack? I hope it's true, I really do.

what i've read is that Conquests contains all of the improvments and Civs of PtW, which if my memory is correct will be a good thing for us(no paying for two Xpacks only one.)

If that's the case, CivPatriot, I shall be a happy customer. Now all I have to do is buy that new 1G iMac that has an OS capable of still operating in Classic, so I can play Civ II along with a *whole* Civ III.
