Everyone:
It's become apparent that those who use the Macintosh computer platform will have to jump ship if they ever wish to fully experience Civilization III.
PC users have (or will have) Civ III itself, Civ III: Play the World, Civ III: Conquests and all the relevant patches.
Macintosh users have Civ III itself, a Mac-specific editor and some of the relevant patches (two of the three, I think). Everything else is up in the air right now, to put it politely.
Do the math. If you want to fully enjoy Civ III, the Macintosh platform is simply *not* the place to go.
I suppose Civ III and its follow-ups will never come to a gaming console, either. That's kind of too bad, as PS1 did have Civ II come out for the console some years back. (And the SNES had Civ I.)
Shucks. It looks like I'm going to have to head out to the bookstore and buy one of those "PCs for Dummies" and "XP for Dummies" books. I doubt it's that much of a difference, but if I'm going to have a home PC system, I want to know the ins and outs of it ... just like I do my beloved (but aging) Macintosh.
