  • Civ Rev for iPhone/iTouch

So I just got an iPod/iTouch a day or two ago. Browsing through the various available apps to my surprize I discovered they had civ! And a free version too!

    It is actually quite fun.

Just found the answer to my own question the full version has "multiple difficulty levels" and allows you to play the "modern era and beyond!".

My phone doesn't allow me to download the full version (as it's over 10MB) until I get into a WiFi network so has to wait until I get home.

Flying to Vegas tomorrow. Do I now need my DS for the flight....

Yeah, more battery life if I use both!

Stupid locality reasons. It's exactly this kind of attitude that promotes piracy. Thank you ipa.

I rarely ever buy *anything* but I went and bought the full app. Mmm, civ...

It is kinda simple, though that may be Civ Rev in general, I haven't played the full version. But it has all theimportant civ elements. I enjoy it a little too much.

As far as I can tell from playing it's exactly the same as Civ Rev on the DS (which I have). It's a bit fiddly (moving units etc) as you can only use the touch screen but is considerably cheaper than buying for a console!

I just got an IPhone and LOVE Civ Rev!!!! Of course I am a 49yr old Civaholic, so being able to take Civ with me anywhere makes me happy!!!

It is a simple verison of Civ4, but being able to finish a game in 2-3 hours is nice. I am working my way up in difficulty, I am now playing King level. Where on Civ4 I play the various middle levels(depending on which civ I am playing).

I just wish the map was a little larger (I like huge maps)- having the other civs starting so close to you can be a challange. You have to build up an army fast or hope they want peace!!

Yea, it is nice, I play it on the train going home from work. I wish there was some kind of civilopedia or tech tree or something. I like knowing exactly what the buildings do and what the tech bonsues are, etc. For folks used to Civ4 with exact numbers for everything including decimal places, this level of abstraction and mystery can be frustrating. But I sill have a good hang of it and do pretty well. It is just a time waster, not a serious, intensive game like Civ4. So for what it is, it is enjoyable.
