  • Re focusing on CIVREV

Started back playing, have a question, is it normal to be constantly attacked by many neighbors at once?

Im not so much on demands when demand I give gold or constant badgering for technology, am I wrong and should give it to those who threaten?

Or maybe build an early army and go take a city to show I mean business?

    thanks

It seems to be entirely normal to be constantly attacked by all, yes, unless you give in on the demand.

If you want to play entirely peacefully you'll have to give in... usually I just keep ahead of the tech race and have a superior army available

I had thought this was a thought controlled, thought guided system ahead of all systems and that, like life, it reflected normal attitudes toward the player

      Oh wait..it does

Yea, the approach is very similar to Civ2 I feel. Once you get past the initial annoyance of it and begin viewing it as a "state of war," management of the situation can then be managed.

In general, the civs that declare war on me because I refused their attempts at extortion I marginalize. I never go on the offensive against them until much later. I just build a couple archer armies, etc and sit back - picking off their weakened units. It takes more than a few units to capture cities, so I make sure my forces are ready - usually 3 to 4 knight armies or tank armies.
