  • too many cities

I made a scenario in PTW with 32 civs and the world is 362x362. I am playing the scenario and when I tried to make a new city the game gives me message of "too many cities". I would like if someone can tell me if I can fix this so you can build as much as possible or if I am out of luck.

Nope, there is a hard-coded limit to the total number of cities. I don't remember what it is at the moment...512, I think.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Could you send me a save to look at, and preferable the scenario too. (send them to gramphos@apolyton.net)

Good grief, it must be nice having a super computer to run a game like that! (is there an envious smilie to put here?)

Or are you waiting a month before your turns comes up again?

Sorry, but you're SOL. As has been mentioned, there's a hardcoded limit of 512 cities in total, which will come up rather quickly on a map that size with that many civs. I play 256 x 256 with 8 civs, and there's still some small spaces left over that don't get settled before I hit the limit. And that's with no cities allowed on Desert or Tundra. Maps your size really aren't very practical for the limits set within the game, I wouldn't recommend anything more than what I use.

Which BTW is a pretty good scale for a world size, it makes each square almost exactly 100 miles. IIRC, the circumference of the Earth is about 25,000 miles.
