  • Problem with science advisor in scenarios

I have a problem with the science advisor screens when playng scenarios from the editor. Instead of seeing a tech tree marked with easy to see arrows, I have these faint, grey lines randomly connecting the techs, all of which are unable to be selected. The science advisor won't let me leave without selecting a tech, but I can't select a tech, but I can't leave without selecting a tech, but I can't select a....see what I mean ?
Even if I don't change anything in the editor, I still can't use the tech tree.
Also, I got two programs with my game. One is called "Civ3Edit" and the other is called "Civ3mod", which causes errors, making it unusable. What's the story ?

Sounds like you need to do an unintstall/ reinstall. That problem has come up before around here, not sure exactly what the solution is.

As for the other files, Civ3mod.bic isn't a program, it's the file that contains all the information the game needs, like unit stats, terrain bonuses, civilization traits etc. Basically all the rules are contained there, and the game uses it to set up the conditions. I'm not sure what you mean about causing errors, it's not an exectuable to my knowledge, you shouldn't be able to access it. Though there might be a possibility that it's corrupted, which would explain the problem you're having.

Cv3Edit is the editor program that you can use to change all the values that are contained in the Civ3Mod.bic file. You can change the rules and stats for the whole game pretty much, except for a few things that have been hardcoded.

You ned to patch your Civ3 version. That thing was changed in one of the early patches.
