Tossing this out here for feedbag.

Invasion. It is a fatal scenario, you can't "win" . . . you're just trying to last as long as you can.

your continent has your cities with all their stuff and you have $X to start with. all the techs are set, and you can build units. your science production basically turns around every 4 turns, and will give you some upgrade in weaponry.

After some kinda setup time (say 5-8 turns) comes the invasion where barbarians (or whoever) land and pound the hell out of your cities. You can lose your cities, but you can get them back... or they could be ground into the dirt.

wanna settle another city? go ahead. . . if you think it'll survive. Unit production will be pretty easy . . . like 1 or 3 turns for marine/mechinf/modarmor. those wouldn't be your only units, but you're based in the modern era.

but at some point, you will begin to lose if there were enough attackers.

This idea seeks to take the management aspect out of the game and make a semi mindless, hi action, short (:30) scenario out of it. If it were possible to score it, it'd be cool to have it calc (no of turns you lasted * number of units killed) / number of units lost. Really simple score based solely upon battlefield performance

How many turns can YOU last? (=

That sounds like it has some good potential, only problem is how would you keep the Barbs attacking? They will try to make peace at some time, no?
