  • Slowing the Science!

Hey all. Been playing Civ III for a long time, but I just found this great site. Love all the info Apolyton contains, very helpful. I was wondering if someone might help me out with one thing I've wanted to do for a while: How do I slow the technology progress and turn off the 2050 year turn limit? I'd love to play the game where tech takes far longer to research than normal for everyone, and no limit for the time you can play. So even tiny maps last longer. How might I do this? Any help would be appreciated!

You can use the editor to change the min/max number of turns required to research a tech. In your case you'd want to increase the minimum above the default (4 turns) and probably the maximum above its default (40 turns) as well.

I'm not sure about the 2050 end date, but it has been discussed. Try searching the forum on "2050".

      Make technology more expensive.

Don't forget to make a scenario though!!!
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

Another thing you can do is increase the tech rate in the World Sizes area of the editor. As for the end date, I don't think you can change that, but if you have PTW you can increase the number of turns in a game so it takes longer overall. So without changing anything else, the Modern Era would start much sooner and last longer.
