  • Is there a way to extract a map from a saved game?

    One random world I played had a very interesting setup, and while I could probably duplicate it with a lot of time and effort, it would be so much easierto just yank the map out from a saved game.

    Is this possible, and if so, how?
    No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

      A tarnier? I don't believe I've heard of those -- where would I get one?

                If you can load the map into the editor you can also get the seed number off of it. The Civ III (vanilla) and PTW Editors will produce similar (not exact but close) maps based on the seed number, you can also change the land size, climate, temps, etc to see the various effects.

                  Also, if you go into the ini file, the world seed is shown there:

                  WorldSeed=12917438 as an example.
