  • Cooperative Ancient MOD

I would like to get some people to help me create a mod that transforms Civ3 PtW into an 'ancient' Civ3. In other words, ancient civs, technologies, and units. Id be willing to do most of the rule editing, if not all.

Unfortunately, I have no unit creating ability. Much less the software to do it. If anyone would like to help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Other than that, I was thinking about picking and choosing different terrain/imporvement/city graphics made by forum frequenters to put in. For instance the gray road mod someone made; Snoopy's city mod, etc.

Ive been wanting to do this for a long time so whoever is interested please put down what you would be willing to do. I am also willing to take suggestions.

I dont really have the patience to do Civilopedia entries either, so, as before, if someone finds it monstrous amounts of fun, youre more than welcome to join this project.

So, without further BS, PLEASE HELP!!!!

But seriously, I want to do this.

Also, I am working from a Roman perspective on this. In other words, most units will have Latinate names, etc. And i dont plan on having any asian civs. I want this to basically be mediterranean/european. not becuse they are better, i just like that area/era in history.

Um, the Great Wall IS ancient. It was built during the Qin Dynasty, around 200 BC. The "Ancient" world isn't just Greece, Rome, and Egypt, you know.

What time frame is the mod in (from around what year to what year)? I can give some suggestions.

i'd like to help... but i'm still trying to get my fantasy mod sorted out. i've only barely begun, if only because the task is so daunting.

azeem, i already stated that i dont care to put china etc in this mod. i have it focused on the mediterranean and europe. thats why i say great wall becomes hadrians wall i.e. chinese wall to roman wall

Additional Egyptian Unique Unit: Nubian Mercenary (a large portion of the armies of Ancient Egypt were mercenaries from different lands)

Authentic Egyptian City Names (not the Greek variations of the names):

                Men-nefer (Memphis)
                Thinis
                Waset (Thebes)
                On (Heliopolis)
                Perwadjyt (Buto)
                Abedju (Abydos)
                Saqqara
                Meidum
                Menat Khufu
                Henen-nesw
                Abu
                Rostja
                Sauty
                Nekhen
                Nubt
                Itjtawy
                Hetepsenurset
                Khmum
                Djedu
                Asyut
                Bubastis
                Behdet
                Timna
                Iunet
                Kerma

NOTE: These names came from both the game "Pharaoh" and a book on Egyptology

Here are some Egyptian "Wonders" you can include:
"Temple at Karnak" - One of the largest temple complexes ever built in pharaoic Egypt. Perhaps replace the "Oracle"?
                "Valley of the Kings"
                "Great Sphinx"
                "Abu Simbel"
"Cult of Amun" - The belief of Amun-Ra became the most prominent in the New Kingdom period of pharaoic Egypt and thus became an "official" religion. Egyptians all over Egypt were to worship Amun-Ra as the head of the massive Egyptian pantheon.
"When we begin to regulate, there is naming,
but when there has been naming
we should also know when to stop.

Well, if its devoted to the ancient era, all of the first wonders could stay the same. Perhaps the Appian Way replaces Magellan's Voyage? Or something like that?
Whew! I'm back and ready to start writing again.

You could also replace the "Zulus" with "Nubia" and have "Taharka" as the leader.
