  • Making civilopedia.txt and pediaicons.txt editor

I've decided that I am going to start working on an editor for civilopedia.txt and pediaicons.txt. I think I can do it fairly easy with Visual Basic. I have been taking a Visual Basic class at school so I know how to get started. I need some help with some of the commands to put things into text files at certain places in the text files though. If anyone knows any about please your help would be appreciated. Also, any ideas for the editors would be good, too.

I posted this in the PTW forum when I meant to post it here. Had both open at the same time and I got confused.

You might want to take a look at the civilopedia editor in C3MT.

There is one already, it's called Notepad.

Hey thank Gramphos, I never looked at that. I guess I won't be making an editor.

Well, my editor is a good example of what can be done with VB And an editor just for civilopedia could be good... (I've actually planned to maybe make a stand alone version of it ripping it out from the C3MT content, as only the BIC load is used of the common function, and that just to give the name of some entries, and tell if an building is a wonder or not.) However the editor could do with an update to edit the entire pediaicons.txt file (I believe I miss a few keys as it is now) (But that is on my to-do list for PTW compability)

Right now it willhave to stay part of the C3MT exe.

Will that particular part of C3MT work with PTW?

            Thx,

The filestructure is the same except from that some keays are added to the pediaicons.txt file. However the data not editable through the program will stay as it is in the files, so I see no problem with using it with PTW files.
