Outlined Resources version 1 by R. McCrea

    DESCRIPTION
Outlined Resources makes the resources in Civilization 3 version 1.29f easier to see.

    DETAILS
Resources are outlined with white fading to black. All shadows except for fish's were removed. The whale image now actually includes a sample of its original shadow over sea terrain. Poor quality of resources images is also easier to see, since the silouettes are more distinct.

    INSTALLATION
    *** Backup resources.pcx and resources_shadows.pcx in your Civ3/Art/
    *** Extract or copy resources.pcx and resources_shadows.pcx from OutlinedResources.zip to your Civ3/Art/

Bear in mind those are compressed jpegs. There is no "funny dithering" around the whales, e.g., when playing the game.

I noticed when I had a "purple tinge around the edge" (from anti-aliasing on the magenta background) that the resources stood out even more, but I don't want all resources to have a tinge of purple or any other specific color, and I don't feel like doing each individually.

Dont you think it makes them too easy to see?

Maybe a bit brighter outline more similar to the game's natural colors can be both as effective and less of an eyesore.

I don't know about *too* easy, but its certainly easier. Just a new variation for folks to consider, rather than adding "shields", or doubling the size of the icons.

No doubt about it, the game's natural color is yellow. I'm not gonna add that, lol. (The water is "perfectly" cyan instead of the blue I and others prefer, and the grass is the same distance towards yellow away from "perfectly" green.)

I have d/l ed it and will try it out.

Considering how long it can take to find coal in a mountain sometimes, I don't have a problem with resources being too easy to see.

I still like much more the iconed resources but this is really my second fav
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.
