any way to turn off mini map city display/resize it?

I'd like to turn off city display on the mini map, because I can barely see the colours of the different nations - I know the geography button, but I only want to get rid of the cities because I want to see borders - another way would be to resize it, so the city dots are smaller in relation to landmass, but I didn't find out how to do that either (I think none of both is possible, but I'd like to ask before before I continue being annoyed at it and having not seen a simple way to change it)

No I've heard of MOD does that unfortunately. It's a valid complaint, those city dots are too big on crowded maps.
