Maybe someone here has had this problem before and can help me out. I try to install Civilization 3 and I won't even get as far as loading up the installer. I get a message "Error extracting support files: Catastrophic failure" and there ends my Civ 3 experience. I'm running XP Pro, same drivers (the latest) and system as a friend and he installed just fine. Thanks in advance!

Problem Solved!
After some more time researching my problem I've found the solution. I was experiencing an InstallShield error. Couldn't tell you why I was getting this error, but no matter. I deleted the /Program Files/Common Files/InstallShield/Engine folder, then I made sure Ikernal.exe wasn't in memory anymore, rebooted, and was able to install normally. I hope this information helps anyone else in the same plight.
