  • Can't Add New Units

I downloaded the mod which allows up to 32 new units to be added to the game, I am having 2 problems.

    1. After adding a new unit (T-72 w/ Panzer Tank icon), I cannot select that unit to build it, when I am in the city view and open the build queue, and select my new unit, the game crashes.

    2. How do I add new icons? Do I have to manually edit the units_32.pcx file, like back in Civilization 2, or is there another way. Cause I tried the Civ 2 way and it crashed too.

    I use version 1.07f.

    1. Double check that the spelling of the unit folder, ini file and game name are all the same. Triple check for extra spaces! I'm always doing that . Also, check that the ini file doesn't point to non-existant files (I've done that before too).

    2. Yes, you have to manually edit the file. Or just use my files - http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=58958

And don't use 1.07f. Only cheaters use 1.07 f to exploit the cheat bugs. You're not like that are you ? Get 1.29f - it's much more modding-friendly.

I would much like to get v1.29f, but I'm ashamed to admit that I don't have the cd, and finding a no-cd version has proven elusive. I think the new features in the editor are excellent. The mini-map is key, plus the ability to create actual scenarios like the good days of Civ2.

Anyway, why is version 1.07f bad? (I actually don't know.)

I read what you wrote, and the one thing that I forgot to do was, after renaming all the files to the proper unit name, I forgot to actually edit the commands in the .ini file. Fixed it and it works fine, thanks for the help.

before 1.29f, there was a lot of hard-coded stuff in the game: no.of units & resources, addign new techs, etc, hard-coded rules that were changed (like fast retreat now being a % chanct rather than all the time), etc. In fact, here's part of my readme, which details all the changes in the various patches.

        and buy the damn game

          btw - where'd you get a T-72 from? I though the only T-variants currently available for civ3 were the T-26, T-34 and T-76?

Not an actual T-72 unit, I just called it that to test if the unit would work proper. How do you make animations for the units?

And why would I buy the game, I already have it. Someone will break the code soon, and then its smooth sailing.
