  • Please help with diplomatic movie...

I´ve already replaced the diplomatic movie on my hd by the one on civ3 cd, thinking it maybe was corrupted... But the diplomatic movie still doesn´t show up after a diplomatic victory!!!

The opening and the space race movies show up normally. I´m playing with v1.29f.

    Help, please!

    Thanks in advance!!

do you even get a movie with diplomatic victory? I thought space race was the only victory that got a movie...

Well, zulu9812, there´s a "security_briefing.bik" file in the "Civ3\Art\Movies" folder. It has 2.22MB. What for?

Does anyone had seen this movie? Or I´m just allucinating about its existence?

      Anyone? Any help? Aaaahhh!!!

      Thanks!!!

I don't know what securty_briefing.bik is for (IIRC, it shows the Military Advisor, in the ancient era, telling you the "fort" is very secure, but then ducking to avoid an arrow), but it's not for the diplomatic victory. The Space Race is the only victory with a movie.

There are only three movies on the Civ III disk.

          intro.bik
          security_briefing.bik
          race.bik

          All are in the

          H:\Art\Movies

          Folder.

If you do a full install they will also be copied to the

          D:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Art\Movies

Folder. Your milage may vary. Most will have those on the C: drive for instance.

Everything but the Space Race victory gets the loser heads screen on an appropriate background.

The space race victory is really a 320X240 video blown up and with a black line between each actual video line. Which was my clue as to the source of the codec. Bink Video used to do the Smacker video which was used in Ceasar III for instance.

If you want you can download the Bink stand alone player and the RAD tools from making Bink videos. For non-comercial use of course.

RAD Game Tools' web page. RAD makes Bink Video, the Telemetry Performance Visualization System, and Oodle Data Compression - all popular video game middleware.

Thanks for the posts, friends! And thanks for the link, Ethelred. I downloaded the "radtools" and finally saw the "security_briefing.bik" movie... Oh, well...

It wasn´t what I thought. From "security", I thought it was a UN Security Council Briefing about the votes... Great imagination of mine...

After all, I was just allucinating...

            Thanks again!!

            Best regards,
