The Altera Centauri collection has been brought up to date by Darsnan. It comprises every decent scenario he's been able to find anywhere on the web, going back over 20 years.
25 themes/skins/styles are now available to members. Check the select drop-down at the bottom-left of each page.
Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
jason: regarding the Hoden....Iroquis, I could make a second settler that requires Democracy, and set their favoured gov't type as democratic.
The Aztec bit could easily be resolved, just needs to be renamed.
As to the immobile gin, I'm not quite sure how that could be implemented seamlessly, unlike most of the stuff in the mod.
BTW, could somebody post that world map, so I can get an idea of what it really looks like?
Wish I had the world map for you, but I borrowed the book from the library and it has long since been returned.
The immobile gun isn't too hard. Take something like Artillery as a model. Give it an A/D/M of 0/0/1 And under Unit Abilities select Immobile. Give it a high bombard strength (at least 12) and then either kick the bombard range up to 8 (the maximum) or if you want, select Infinite Bombard Range under Unit Abilities. You might want to also give it a rate of fire of 1 (they must be a ***** to reload) and selected Lethal Land bomabrdment under Unit Abilities as well. Make it only available to all the Islamic Civs, because if you remember they all allied toegther against China in the book.
It should be late/post World War II in terms of tech.
All this attention to the scenario is great! Unfortunately, I don't have the time to help out or work on it further, but you guys can go ahead and make it a truly great scenario.
As for the scenariol, umm....I haven't actually read the book, I just liked the scenario . On the good side, though, I am interested in reading it as soon as I finish this semester (lots of reading for English )
Those ideas for the immobile gun sound good, I'm thinking of maybe putting it with Rocketry, and it would be solo as far as the upgrade tree went....almost like a unit/city improvement mix. As for price, I might put it 1 or two above the regular amount for Radar Artillery.
And keep those ideas coming. As good as it is, I would like to make this into a complete scenario.
Ok, after a little playtesting, I noticed that I had inadvertantly screwed over the Swordsman.....I had accidently caused Knights to replace Swordsmen for all but the Aztecs and Persians (who still got Immortals....but then it would upgrade to Cavalry) . It is fixed now, so get it here).
Switch, are you officially taking over this mod? I'd like to help, if you'd like. I'm actually thinking about buying the book, even though I've already read it. It was that good. I had heard about Robinson's Mars books, but never picked them up, but now they're next on my list.
There's actually a good number of potential units in the book. They created all sorts of weaponry in the Samarkand chapter and the Travancore built dirigibles, steamships, etc. I'm pretty good at moding in-game factors, but I don't have the software (or the time) to do custom unit animations, so I'm afraid I can't help there.
Jason's North American Colonization, v 2.1

Play as one of five European powers or eleven Native tribes as you spread across North America. The Europeans start with technological and military advantages, while...
WEll, it appears that Ixnay is a little busy IRL, so I guess I am taking it over, at least the PtW version.
Now, about those units, remember that there are still the 14 unused UU from the unincluded civs, plus the WW2 and Medieval Japan units we can use too. The only animation that I'd need to get as 3rd party, as of yet, is that big gun. And hopefully I'll get the book for Christmas, so that should make things easier.
About your scenario, looks pretty good. I haven't tried it, yet, though, and with my schedule I don't think I'll be able to for a while.
Not just The Years of... but most his books would be interesting to Civ'ers. Ie. Antarctica is about the near future colonization of the South Pole and in terms of suspension it has quite a bit more than The Years of... does. Vinland the dream is a near fututre and alternate history short stories collection. And I just finished Forty Signs of Rain, which deals with the trouble of handling pollution and climate change in a Corporate Republic and the growing need for something like Technocracy.
Another interesting writer would be Robert Charles Wilson. I read Bios, which is science fiction, and Darwinia, alternate history. Both is about biospheres that seems to act more or less consciously to counter some of Mankinds less impressive ideas. The story in Darwinia is infact very alike the one in The Years of..., as it is about Europe suddenly transformed into jungle during the 1st World War. Kind of like a Eco-Ranger (CtP2) attack done by Earth itself. Good themes but the stories are kind of weird though.
