The resolution isnt great, but that almost loks like a modern commando unit to me. The black boots and OD uniform and what looks like cargo pockets on the jacket make it seem that way. Perhaps if the uniform was black instead of olive drab it would look more like a guerilla. It wouldnt make that big of a difference, but sandels instead of boots would also help too.

EDIT: why not make this a modern comando unit and then make a modern guerrilla unit out of that too. That would be pretty economical - two units for one. The commando unit I have is pretty weak looking. This would be a great replacement.

Sorry, kramer. Commando's are of no use to me. I need to start cracking down on the things I need for my mod. It looks very much like a guerilla to me. Thanks for letting me know what you think. I'll mess around with it tonight to see if I can make it look better.

            Nice gun!
            Strange hat!
            Good work!

But shouldn't a modern guerilla unit be armed with a rocket launcher??

Perhaps people will replace the PTW guerilla unit with it... but nobody's seen that yet, and nobody has PTW, so you might have to wait for some more downloads.

                    Viet Cong not accurate

Your "pointy hat" Viet Cong plays into the stereotype that they were all just peasant farmers and guerillas with guns. In fact, the Viet Cong had real soldiers with uniforms, modern weaponry, battle experience and professional training. They wore tan uniforms with hard pith helmets, somewhat like the British or World War I helmets (see "We Were Soldiers" as an example). The "funny pointy hat" you refer to is what the Chinese slaves wore in the 1800's and is called a "coolie" (which is what the slaves, themselves, were called). While it was common throughout South Asia, it's not really accurate to have your Viet Cong wearing that hat (unless it's just a peasant Viet Cong and not part of the main North Vietnamese Army)

                    Here's a couple examples:

                    A VC peasant fighter:

ok thanks join the line of 20 other people that have complained about innacuracy.

the point of the viet cong was to look like peasents. the US didn't invade villages looking for NVA.

I just thought you'd be interested in making your units accurate. If you're going to make them like Marines, they should be NVA. If you're going to make them more like guerillas or disguise them or whatever, the VC peasant look is more accurate.

The US Army expected to fight the NVA, they were surprised to end up fighting the Viet Cong (again, see "We Were Soldiers", shows the first major conflict between US and Communist Vietnamese fighters - they were practically *all* NVA).

Sorry you took it personally, just thought you'd be interested in making an accurate unit.

Yeah, and I can't see them breathing... what kind of crap are you posting here if we can't even see the units breathing?

Get more accurate! It's not like this is a game for entertainment purposes or anything.

Wow, you kids don't take criticism very well, here, do you? Not very mature, but, judging by the work you produce, Ghengis, I wouldn't expect you to be.

Anyway, like I said, I was only trying to correct a stereotype, you guys were just too insecure (I guess) to take it constructively, not personally. Not my problem.

actually i take criticism very well. but i had gotten tons of bad criticism about this unit elsewhere, and not a single person who has criticised it has had the same opinion of what it should look like. so i went with the first few suggestions and this is it.

the main vietnamese you saw in "we were soldiers" were the regular NVA infantry. the viet cong showed up later with black clothes and the pointy straw hats. the viet cong were the guerillas, and they had to look as much like a peasant as possible.

the pictures you posted are of the NVA. i have made NVA (just look for it on this forum), it's my most succesful unit. but, i made them with a pointy straw hat too, just to make it clear what it was. if i made it have a helmet, it wouldn't be much different then the regular infantry at all.

sorry that i burst out at you, you seem like a really nice guy. i'm just very dissapointed and aggrivated with this site. that's why i only come back once every 2 weeks or so. sorry, again.
