  • I need help on my WWII scenario!

I almost finished it, only need to put one more civ in, and I wanted to playtest what I have so far, but the game crashes once the scenario loads.....Can some scenario makers take alook and see what the problem is....I really want to finish this.

Same thing happens to me. I think the problem is with having 3+ players in a scenario. I don't know how to fix the problem though, which has seriously delayed (read: halted) my work on my Pacific Theater scenario.

I'm working on two scenarios that have more than two civs/players in them, so I don't think that is the problem. Most likely one of the .ini files for your units is misnamed, causing the game to crash as soon as it starts. Hope this helps you.

I looked at the .bic file you posted, and I have two ideas:

          1) You added a number of new unique units. Be sure the spelling of the unit folders and the.ini files in the folders are exactly the same as the spelling for those units in the .bic file (if you haven't already done this).

          2) In scenario properties you have it set for 8 players, but there are only six start locations. It is possible that this may have cause the crash, though I'm not 100% certain of this (in past versions, the computer would simply pick a suitable spot for the other civs, even if you didn't make a start location for them).

I also noticed a couple of little things that I thought I'd bring to your attention so you can fix them now before you release your scenario:

          1) Socialists in U.S.S.R. is mispelled. Spelling out U.S.S.R. makes for a very long name; you could probably get away with just calling it 'U.S.S.R.'

          2) I believe the French had a sizable Mediterranean (sp?) fleet. When they surrendered, the British sank the fleet for fear of it falling into the hands of the Germans. You may want to consider giving the French fleet near Marsailles one or two battleships to reflect this.

          3) I noticed you added the T-55 tank. Was this just added as a "what if" unit, as in "what if" the war had continued into the '50's?

I hope this helps you out some.

That's not the problem Ed, right now all my scenario is is the standard rules and the map.

ok, this scenario is a copy of the one that came with civ2, so that answers the question about the mediteranian fleet. Also, since there is no way to surrender in civ3, the fleet would stay french, and would be unrealistic. Since there is no time limit in the scenario I added the T-55. I wanted to add more modern units, but that is the only one made so far. Also, any more input from everyone is apretiated, I want to make this so everyone enjoyes it.

Sorry, I've never encountered an error message like that before. Have you tried contacting the Firaxians? Maybe they could help.
