  • Biplanes vs F-15s?

Hi, I've been lurking around here for ages, but I had a burning question.

What exactly do the Attack ad defend values for aircraft do?

It seems they don't have much purpose since Air superiority missions are determined by chance and always work. All planes seem to be lost when they are intercepted.

    So assume the following.

I added a few biplanes, such as the Sopwith.
The AI sets it on Air sup. mission. I bombard with my F-15.

    Biplanes attack/defense is 2/1. For F-15 it is 4/2

Will the Sopwith ever bring down the F-15? All signs point to yes, since statistically it seems so.

It is pretty undrealisitic, since an F-15 flying past could probably rip the biplane into pieces with its draft and tailwind.

Another point; suppose I take off the 'immobile' flag of the bomber, but keep it on the other planes. Will there be a way to intercept it?

That's not true. Actually, I shot down some enemy fighters with my bombers on bombing missions. Not frequently, but it does happen from time to time. I believe that the chances you mention work only for deciding whether the interception happens or not. If it does, a regular combat using the A/D values takes place (anyone to confirm my observation?).

      My observations agree with Vondrack
We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI
