  • Next Project: Pacific Theater

Here's a map preview of what I've decided as my next project... the Pacific Theater of World War II. Just a rough outline at this point, I'll have to smooth out the map later on.

I haven't made everything exactly geographically correct, for better gameplay, and because I can always fix some things later.

Good luck and I'll help if you need it (just remember to say something in the readme).
Overworked and underpaid C/LTJG in the NJROTC
If you try to fail and succeed which have you done?
If fail to plan, then you plan to fail

LoL, sorry about that, I won't forget next time.

      *Updates the map*

Okay, I admit, it looks like crap from far away, but it's better than it seems. This scenario will be much better than my last one, don't worry. I'm going to go a lot more in-depth with types of units and their placement this time. Hopefully things will work out alright.

It's on there, don't worry. It's to the north-east of Wake, and just to the North-west of Hawaii. Things are a little more scrunched than I'd like, but I don't think it'll be a problem.

Great! We can see a real naval/air war in the Pacific

That's what I intend on working on, I made a trial naval/air scn on this forum and got some interesting feedback from adaMada.

One problem with a map including America/China landmass - no flat maps

Give me four and they'll build a pyramid. Give me five and they'll make one an outcast. Give me six and they'll reinvent prejudice. Give me seven and in seven years they'll reinvent warfare. After slugging it out with Riflemen, I figured some nice air/naval combat was in order. I want to spend some more time on this one and tweak everything to work better than it normally does in Civ 3 though, so don't expect much done for a while (as in 5 days, knowing me ).

You're right, you can't set the map to be flat in the editor, but with Gramps' CMT, there are flat maps... (and this one is. ).

                Trip,

Sounds like a good scenario. I look forward to playing it. Just to point out that CMT 'flat map' option does nothing in 1.29.

I am drawing/testing a map of Eastern Europe for my Op Barbarossa scenario and have been forced to use the old two mountains/river/two mountain border method and the 'hope' that German and Russian cities are 8 squares away from each other to stop air raids

Dont give up however, I am proceeding with my scenario with the hope that I complete other areas as they become options in the editor or some 'custom' tool on these threads.

Erm, I'm not sure which version of the CMT you're using, but I just ran a test and the flat map option works. In my CW scenario, I put a Union Cavalry right next to the right edge of the map, ran the scenario, tried to move him over to what would be the left side, and he wouldn't move. So I'm not sure if you're doing something wrong or what, but it works fine for me.

Anyways, like I said, I'm doing a massive overhaul of all the units in the scenario (naval, and air units especially). If anyone has suggestions for good unit graphics to use for it, I would appreciate it if you would point them out to me.

CMT? I never knew it could do that!

Downloading it already. On ya Gramphos.

BTW Massive overhaul is the truth. I found the only way to make them important was to increase everything and disable offensive land (like tanks) so they have to be used-by AI as well.

Good program. I'll be looking out for any other essentials like this.

You could always use Civilization 2 unit graphics.
There are more than enough planes, tanks, infantry and ships to use.

And if you need to konw what weapons to include, ask me, I know pretty much everything about it.

Looks great, although you'll need to link up nukes directly to fission or make a 'nuclear bober unit.
