  • Unit order when (re)loading saved game

In CivII the last active unit when you save a game is still active when you reload the game. I liked that to help me remember what I was doing between game play sessions (or if I'm reload cheating to test something [or because I'm frustrated...]).

In CivIII, no matter what, the first unit to be active on reloading a game is any active artillary that I have. After that the order seems to be in the opposite of whatever order I *want* it to be in (not sure how the game reads my mind like that). Is there any way of controlling the order that active units are presented to you in?

NAFAIK, I know what you mean it's frustrating sometimes.

I know that in a campaign you want to bombard first to soften up the target, but I like to activate workers first. Sometimes you need that extra segment of road (or rail) to speed a unit's movement to the front. Transport units also need to be positioned properly before they can be loaded or unloaded.

I also prefer to conclude movement of all units in a given theater before moving on to the next area.

Firaxis did spend some time on this issue and even made a change in the first patch, but I think further improvement is possible. Maybe in PTW?
