  • Cant do anything

I just installed the new (v 1.29f) patch. It worked fine at first. Then i stopped playing for about 6 hours. After that, i tried to play again, it oprens correctly, but when i try to click on new game, nothing happens. I can hear the sound it makes when you click, but nothing happens. Also, i tried loding a scenario ( the one that came with the game) its says that the scenario is corrupt. I dont have a clue what happende. Can i have some help please

the scenario was made before you installed the new patch? If that's the case, the bics are incompatible. Create a new blank scenario and use File>Import to imprt the scenario into the new bic standard.

I've always found that scenarios created under an old patch won't work with a newer patch. 1.29f has an import facility, allowing you to copy the rules, map and start locations from ine bic to another. When importing from an out-of-date bic (the bic is the file-type that CivEdit saves as) you get an error message, but it still seems to work ok.

Yea, I have exactly the same problem! New Game and Load Game are just dead links and load scenario gives me that crap, too. I have reinstalled the game several times without any success. I even tried it under Win2000 instead of XP which I usually use, didn't work either. The old version still works but I want to play the newest

I have tried to use the import feature, but I don't know how it works. How is it supposed to know what to import? There is no prompt asking what file to import from. So when I press import, nothing changes in the .bic file I have open.

There has been a lot of posts where people have had to uninstall the old patches, reinstall new patches, etc before the game would work again. Personally I think its related to OS. I've never had to do that and in my add/delete programs I can still see every version of the game plus I can use my heavily mod-ed 1.21 game as a scenario in 1.29. It just goes to show the superiority of win98se over newer versions
