  • Wierd Bug...

I've had this problem since the day the game came out, but I was willing to ignore it for a long time. During the game, right after moving a unit, the unit sometimes gets "stuck", ie the unit has the red dot showing he has moved but the game does not move on and stays with him. It shows the Please Wait message, but I've left the game alone in this manner for over an hour with no change .

It's still possible to manually select other units, by I'm only able to move them one space at a time, which can be very frustrating, and when this new units move points are used up, he reverts to the status of the original "stuck" unit. Also, strangely enough I have found a way to "fix" this, but it is only available by the time I get catapults. Apparently, when I select catapults or any other unit capable of bombardment and tell them to bombard without picking a target, the game will switch back to the original unit and behave normally until the next freeze.

Suffice it to say this problem has me baffled, and, having not seen any other messages about this, leads me to believe I may be having an isolated problem. I have the latest patch, but my processor is kinda slow, could this be it? Still doesn't explain the bombard thingy....

Oh well, please post your thoughts.

I've never seen such a bug. I don't think it is processor-related, though. I had a slow processor and never had that bug. Do you have other programs running in the background? Sometimes they interfere with the game, and you'd want to turn them off before playing Civ3.
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

Nope, no programs running in the background, just good old memory eating Windows Have plenty of mem though, 256.

Yeah, I've had that happen to me as well, though it usually doesn't last for long. I keep hitting the Space bar or selecting other units, and it eventually goes away. I've certainly never had it last for an hour though, usually a minute or two. And it doesn't happen very often. It might be my imagination, but it seems to me that it happens to my Scouts most of all.

Your unit has CRS. Save your game, exit to the main menu and reload your game. You may not be able to use the keyboard commands until you get back to the main menu. Repeat as necessary.

I have had it do this for a full day before and the unit still couldn’t figure out what it was doing. I never should have used Harlan's hemp resource!

Heh... I COULD do that.. but my way is much better when I get bombard units No need to exit and restart, just keep playing.
