  • Cities won't grow bigger than 6 pop points

For some reason none of my cities will grow past 6 pop points. A few days ago they would grow normally, but in my more recent games once they get to 6 it says the next pop growth will be in 9999 turns. Anyone know how to fix it (BTW I've got the newest patch, 1.21 I believe it is)?

One other thing - how do you build scouts?

You have to build a Aqueduct in order for your cities to grow beyond 6 and a Hospital to grow beyond 12.
Excellence can be attained if you Care more than other think is wise, Risk more than others think is safe, Dream more than others think is practical and Expect more than others think is possible.

LOL. Now that is funny. At first I thought it was 8 (like civ 2), then I had some cities growing to 12 without me building anything (damn autobuild, or maybe good autobuild).

Now for the second thing. Scouts? Don't appear in the production menu - how do you build em?

You don't need an Aqueduct if your city is next to a river or a fresh water lake.

You can only build Scouts if you are an Expansionist civ.

If all else fails, read the manual.

I don't think Scouts are actually buildable. Expansionist civs get a free scout at the start of the game, in addition to a settler and a worker.

Scouts can be built, but only by expansionist civs.

You're right: I'd changed Greece to be expansionist but hadn't added them to the builder list for scouts...
