  • Coming Soon: Alexander the Great Scenario (finally at Apolyton!)

    See the initial thread here.

Visit the official webpage (developed and updated by realn) here.

After several months of planning, debating, creating, and no sleep, we are all still planning, debating, creating and losing sleep .

Anyways, this scenario is essentially underway and plans are being made and units are being animated (Kryten ). Here is the dirt on the scenario:

    Tenative Civ List:

    Macedon
    Greece - Athens
    Greece - Sparta
    Greece - colonies (Miletus/Epeshus/etc)
    Persia
    India
    Thessaly
    Illyria
    Frontier Tribes (Triballians/Getae/etc)
    Thrace
    Scythia
    Phoenicia*
    Egypt*
    Arabs

    The following are debatable:

    Crete
    Cyprus
    Ethiopia
    Rhodes

-Kryten, the man, is working on virtually all the units for this scenario, you can find previews and discussions of/about them scattered throughout this thread

Here are just a *few* samples of his work:

-almost all of the units will be civ-specific to reflect the vast differences in military formations and army styles

-Each region will have its own "strategic" resource, a resource that they must have to build they're civ-specific units. If another civ conquers them, they now have the right to build those units

-the notion of actually creating leaders (ie Alexander, Darius, etc) is being debated

If you want to make ANY comments whatsoever, so ahead (constructive preffered ). I'd like to get a team of commited members to help this project get a good start. At the present, all I've got is Kryten, and I guess Mongoloid Cow. Just say you'd like to help and we can give you something to do, guaranteed! Otherwise just keep giving input! Anything is helpful!

And... until Firaxis releases their new patch (with the new editor), much of this cannot be decided. Heck, most of this hasn't even been started!

Excellent work! I can't wait to see it finished. Hopefully this scenario will make it into PtW. I wish I had someone that good to do the graphics for my Napoleonice Scenario, but I suppose I'll have to make do with what I have.

Looks awesome, but sounds like you really need the new patch to fully realise it.
About the region specific units, hopefully you could use triggers to simply grant the conqourer a normally un-researchable tech that allows that units. Each region could have its own tech that allows its unit set to be built.
Also, the immortal, does it have arrows AND sword, in one unit? I know thats what the civopaedia says, but does it actually switch weapons? That would be really cool.
      You sunk my Scrableship!

Dark Sheer is currently creating an 18th century musketman with a tricorne hat that might be of use to you. Have a look at this thread:-

I know Animepornstar was working on a unit like this, but it has been a long time since his last update and I get the impression its not getting done. So, here I am requesting that somebody out there put this unit together. I am attahing a beautiful pic that shows EXACTLY what I am looking...

(there HAS to be an easier way to make links! )

        To Andrew_Jay:-

Historically, the Immortals had spears, shields AND bows (they used to use their spears as a prop for their shield when they used their bows, or the rear ranks used bows while the front ranks fought with spear & shield).
If you look very, very closely at the Civ3 Immortal animation, you will see that he carries a bow-case on his back. It should be at his side, but at least he's got it!
(Have a look at the "Custom Creation Catalogue", torso number 2, which shows the back of the Civ3 Persian Immortal)
